Ranting 101

Hello party people,

Some of you out there are quite creative with your sites....I'm quite impressed. In this posting I will attempt to harness some of that creativity. Although I don't think I will be able to muster the creativity of my little brother whom I have discovered secrectly wants to be a male stipper. I guess not such a secret after the post Carsley.

I hope everyone is doing their best to stay cool in the midst of this global warming heat wave that we are experiencing throughout BC. We have opted to take full advantage of R & L's pool. Sleeping at night, not so easy. We have a wonderful air conditioner at our house. However, my lovely dog decided to chew through the 'air conditioner life lines' and it will be several hundreds of dollars to fix it. In the meantime my dog has set up a lemonade stand to try and earn enough money to fix it.

Here is a little something to fire out there......is there any justice in our court system? I think not. As a result people are not afraid to do the crime because there is no threat of any real time against them.
We have some lovely teenagers in our neighbor"hood" that use the hours between about 12 AM and 3AM to sell drugs in the church parking lot. It's basically like a drive thru, almost as efficient as the drive thru at Tim Hortons. Last night up to 15 different vehicles. And when a deal goes bad (as one or two did last night) a lot of swearing and yelling and the occasional knife and/or baseball bat fight. You may be asking what about the RCMP? Yes, we have informed them of this frequent activity and one night when the kids were on top of the church roof tearing pieces off and throwing them at another group of kids, we called the RCMP. They are short staffed and overworked. No wonder.....the same people they work to put away, usually get out right away and get back at it. Obviously, there is not a short term fix to this societal problem but longer term thinking shouldn't certain criminal activity come with stiffer sentences. It's human nature...if you think you can get away with something without repercussion you'll do it. If there is likelihood that you will be caught and have to serve a stiff sentence, human nature will likely force you to reassess and contemplate your actions. Some or most of this has to fall back on the parents or guardian's of these misguided youth. Like what the hell are they doing out at 3AM, Mon-Sun? Why are they out front of their apartment at 1PM higher than a kite? These kids are about 13 - 15 years old!
Anyway, I digress. I don't claim to know the answers and I'm not preaching from a pedestal. Nobody is perfect and individuals life circumstances are variable. Something more needs to be done......this is not that new of a problem.

All for now.

I'm ROLLING!!!

Yes Heathy.....read in astonishment...I have posted for two consecutive nights.
Here are some of the wicked whirlibirds that were out working on the fire.
This one is a Sigorski Sky Crane........only about $8000-10000/hr to operate!

This thing hovers over a lake and sucks up approx. 2700 gallons in a little less than 2 minutes. To help put that into perspective, its about the equivilent of 540 jugs from a standard water cooler!

Each of the six rotor blades have a width of just over two feet.

This one is called a Vertol, the Bambi bucket in the forefront holds about 1000 gallons. It's pretty expensive as well. The inside is hollowed out with the exception of a couple of seats near the pilots seat.

Anyway, a small sample of some cool machines.

Adios!

My Quarterly Check In!

Hello everybody, I hope this finds you well. I have been harassed a great deal lately regarding my absenteeism from the blogger world. Shame on me!
A little update.........
Jenn is working at the hospital now and loving it...finally no more homework for her! I am very proud of her for making a decision to pursue something and going after it as well as sticking with it......that's my lady.
Parker is enjoying summer break and will be slipping into Grade One next year. So far this summer we have spent a fair amount of time swimming in the pool up at Nanny and Papa's.....it feels oh so good during the heat waves.
I got the opportunity to head out west last week to help out with the big forest fire at Tezla Lake. It was a great experience and I learned a bunch while out there. In my next posting I'll throw some pics up of the cool helicopters that were out on the fire.
Also, we recently purchased a camper and have managed to get away twice already, once down to Keefer Lake with Heather (turbo blogger) and Daley (he gets upset when I call hime that). That was good to see them and visit a new part of the province. The other adventure was last night out to Cuisson Lake for Steve's 30th Bday party. Good times, many beers, on both trips actually. Here are a few pics of the camping trips thus far. We are planning at least three more trips before Parker goes back to school then maybe a couple in the fall.

The beautiful fire pit at Cuisson kept us warm late into the evening.

Happy son......Happy Dad.
